Door of the Qubba Mayor: Closings
Visiting hours: Every Saturday of February, at 12 a.m.
Place: Room V, Museum of the Alhambra, Palace of Charles the V.
This presentation will give a general vision of the typologies of nasrid closures system, depending on their location, constructive techniques, iron-works, turning systems.
This presentation is also complemented with ornamental procedures like sculpting, knitting and polychromy.
The closures will be analyzed with significant examples of the preserved defensive doors, domestic use and the monumental court ones.
Finally, as closing of this space on the Palace of the Riyad or Lions, and nowadays in the Museum of the Alhambra, we will focus on the Door of the Qubba Mayor, commonly known as Door of Both Sisters.
