The Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife has started a new edition of the visits guided by specialists program, which will continue with the next visit on Friday, November 13. This activity, which will last until November of next year, will take place on Fridays from 4 p.m. on, and on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 a.m.
This weekend´s visit series is called “Styles of the Alhambra” and starts on Friday with the explanation of the art historian José Manuel Gómez-Moreno about “Islamic art through the Alhambra”. On Saturday, November 14, the art historian María Marcos Cobaleda will explain “The mudejar-style in the Alhambra”. After that, on Sunday, November 15, the art historian Juan Manuel Martín García will show “The Alhambra and the Renaissance”.
The guided visit series which will take place on the following weekend is called “Other views of the Alhambra”. On Friday, November 20, María del Mar Villafranca, Director of the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife, will explain “Water: functionality and aesthetics in the Alhambra”. On November 21, Jesús Bermúdez, Technical Advisor of Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife of the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife, will transmit his view of “The Alhambra, a palace city during the history”. On Sunday, November 22, the writer Juan Mata will discover “The Alhambra with the eyes of imagination”.
The last series of guided visits is called “Other perspectives: the way of looking”. The visits will take place on November 27, 28 and 29 and are called as follows: “A photographic look at the Alhambra during the 19th century”, by the hand of the historians Javier Piñar Samos and Carlos Sánchez Gómez; “The moving look: Cinema and the Alhambra” with the historian Carlos Martín; and “The sustained look at the Alhambra: the photography”, by the photographers Francisco Fernández Sánchez and Francisco José Sánchez Montalbán.
Those interested in taking part in this program have to make a ticket reservation in advance at the offices of the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife in the Corral del Carbón (Mondays to Saturdays, 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00, and every Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00) or by phone: (+34) 958 22 11 18. The ticket price for each visit is 6 € and the minimum age for application is 12 years. The visits will be offered in Spanish.
