The influence of Ziryab on Hispano-Islamic culture
Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife (PAG) is proud to present a series of guided themed tours of the Museum of the Alhambra. On the second and third Sunday of the month, from noon onwards, as part of a free programme, voluntary guides from the Museum of the Alhambra will take a close look at Hispano-Islamic culture, through the museum’s collections.
February’s visit, guided by Matilde Cortés, will focus on the influence of Ziryab, while in March, Esperanza Álvarez González will analyse the importance and wealth of Nasrid decoration.
In April, Clemente Franco will examine the Alhambra vases, while in May, Ana Navarro will give a detailed run down of the work of the muhtasib, or supervisor, of the souk.
Themed visits for August and September will deal with Nasrid fashion, clothing and textiles, and science and the importance of water.
The volunteer-guided visits of the Museum of the Alhambra for 2012 will end up with Nasrid food, religion and economy, in October, the personal adornments and coinage of the Hispano-Islamic population in November, and Hispano-Islamic gardens, in December.
