International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada
The International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2011, so the programme also includes some other very significant commemorations of the cultural history of Europe. Our motto is We are the Festival and runs from 24 June to 12 July 2011.
Even after 60 editions, the Granada Festival of today is in tune with its times. Its programmes, its contents and its staging are all living instruments of cultural, educational, touristic and socio-economic activity whose common denominator is the emotions.
The Nasrid palaces, the renaissance buildings and the gardens of the Alhambra and the Generalife are the unique signs of identity of this Festival and together they form an outstanding backdrop for music and dance.
In 2011 the Granada Festival will open the celebrations for the Millennium of the Establishment of the Kingdom of Granada which will take place in 2013 and will become the cultural showcase of a celebration which aims to point out the main milestones of these one thousand years of culture. A significant number of the Festival’s concerts and performances throughout this period will celebrate and project the culture of the Kingdom of Granada in the most outstanding of the city’s venues, particularly in the magnificent grounds of the Alhambra and the Generalife.
Dates: 24 June – 12 July 2011.
