Guided themed tours through the Museum of the Alhambra
The Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife launches a new series of guided themed visits through the Museum of the Alhambra. This is a free activity to be held the second and the third Sunday of every month, starting at 12:00 noon, and its aim is to deepen the knowledge of Hispano-Muslim culture by means of the collections on display in the Museum. The implementation of this project has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the Volunteer Guides at the Museum of the Alhambra.
In February, the tour will be guided by the Volunteer Matilde Cortés and focus on Ziryab’s influence upon Hispano-Muslim culture. In March, Margarita Martín Villanueva will reveal the peculiar features of the Maristan: Medicine in the times of the Nasrids.
Furthermore, in April, the Alhambra Vases will be in the limelight in the tour guided by Clemente Franco, whereas in May, utensils of the Alhambra’s every day life will be explained in detail by Ana Navarro. Matilde Cortés will talk in June about the significance of water in Hispano-Muslim culture.
During July, August and September, the themed tours will focus on Town planning, Nasrid fashion, clothes and textiles as well as Science, religion and economy.
The food in October, the perfume in November and the Hispano Muslim coin in December will be the last subjects within the themed tours through the Museum of the Alhambra in 2011.
