the Alhambra by Voluntary Guides
Voluntary elderly guides help us to better understand the Monumental Complex
The Programme of Cultural Voluntary service consists of 20 members that are on duty in the Museum everyday from 10.00 am to 13.30 pm.
“This programme is an initiative of the “Spanish Confederation of Schools for the Elderly” in its programme “Elderly Cultural Voluntary to teach the Museums of Spain” and as recognition to their work is has been object of public recognition with the “Extraordinary Prize of Imserso 1998” and later on with the “”Prize Júbilo 2000″”.
The programme “Voluntary Guides in the Museum of the Alhambra” is considered a consolidated activity in the Museum since 1998. It offers a daily service in which the Permanent Exhibition is explained to individuals or group or students, in Spanish, and also in English and French .”
What originally was a first experience of disseminating the exhibited collections, little by little has become a stable service that it is already requested by visitors – recommended by friends or teachers who have known the activity and repeat the experience year after year.
