The study of the paving of the Court of the Lions has required exhaustive compilation and processing of information from documentary and bibliographic sources relating to the monument and more specifically with the work carried out on what was known as the "Cuarto de los Leones" of the Old Royal House throughout its long history. The most interesting sources consulted were those with information about the state of conservation of the space, which revealed that at the end of the 15th Century the floor was covered with white marble. It was therefore decided to use the same material in the restoration work. White marble has often been used in restoration work in other parts of the Monument and will ensure better preservation of the water system for the fountain.
