Did you know that the vegetable gardens in the Generalife are worked using traditional techniques?

There have been vegetable gardens in the Generalife ever since the 14th century. These gardens have been maintained without interruption since that time using technical traditional techniques passed on from one generation to the next.

Although the Generalife was intended as a place of relaxation and leisure, its rural situation and its connection to the irrigation network made the slopes between the wall of the Alhambra and the Generalife Palace an ideal place for small-scale agriculture, providing an excellent source of food for the palace inhabitants.

These gardens have been worked ever since using the same techniques as in the time of the Sultans.
