Bricks are a fundamental part of the interior architecture of the Alhambra. They were produced by firing clay quarried near the Vega of Granada where brick and tile factories still exist to this day, given that the manufacture of ceramic products has been a popular occupation in this area throughout history. Bricks were also used as decorative features, as can be seen for example in the arch of the Puerta de las Armas (Gate of Arms) or in the inner facade of the Puerta de la Justicia (Gate of Justice).
